It’s Clear Where McCain Stands on the Whole “Right to Peaceful Protest” Argument

Just when you started to think that John McCain might manage to make it through an entire day without some blunder, gaffe, or erroneous campaign foul up, this story broke. I am referring to Senator John McCain’s direct orders given to his security detail and local police demanding they remove a 61 year old librarian who was in attendance at an “open to the public” campaign stop earlier this week in Denver, CO.

Denver police escorted a 61-year-old woman away who was waiting in line to attend a so-called town hall meeting with McCain that was again, billed as “open to the public.” The Denver Post was the first to report the “Bush=McCain” ordeal, which subsequently was also caught, in its entirety, on tape – which I have attached below:

It was Sen. John McCain’s staff who asked security at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts to remove people holding protest signs at the venue not U.S. Secret Service agents, who were not involved in Carol Kreck’s ouster from the galleria.

A video of the incident circulating widely on the Internet shows a DCPA security guard saying that he was told by the Secret Service to remove Kreck, who was holding a paper sign that said “McCain = Bush.”

Kreck, a 60-year-old librarian and former Denver Post reporter, was cited for trespassing by Denver police at the Monday event.

McCain deserves two thumbs up and a pat on the back for this one, I mean give me a break, how insecure can one be regarding his or her campaign that he has his “personal” security remove sign holders – Not to mention the fact this event was held in middle of the day, on public ground, and was advertised as “open to everyone.”

Anyways. Here is the video, it’s definitely worth watching if you have an extra minute and a half:

But the drama doesn’t end here folks – no, no, no. Days after the actual “incident”, Carol Kreck’s (the lady removed) story was featured on MSNBC’s “Countdown w/Keith Olbermann”, which had a special guest host for the night Rachel Maddow. The piece is actually one of the better discussions regarding the virtual pass McCain receives time and time again from the media – amongst other things as well:

“Freedom of speech and the right to assemble — perhaps in the eye of the overzealous beholder when it comes to John McCain’s campaign staff. Our third story on the Countdown — While Mister McCain was delivering quote, straight talk, at one of his open-forum town hall meetings in Denver yesterday, things were getting closed down just outside.”

I think that segment pretty much sums up what so many people are beginning to see – and that is a unwavering devotion to John McCain from the vast majority of our media, all because McCain plays “favorites” worse then a teacher in a boarding school.
